Microsoft Word

Of all of the tools that we have learned about in class I think the most useful is Microsoft Word. Word is the most useful in my opinion because no matter what you do in life you will always need word more than any other tool. You will need it depending what job you end up doing or even if you don't have a career that you would have a use for Word you would still need it to make a resume for applying to jobs. Even though a tool such as PowerPoint could be very important depending on what job you have, I think Word would still be used more commonly and therefor iI think it is the most useful tool we have learned about.

iPhone to do List

A tool on the iPhone that I find helpful is the to do list. I am someone who procrastinates and puts things off until the last minute. Putting things that I need to do on the list is helpful because you can set the date and time that you want to get a reminder and it will stay on the lock screen of you phone as long as you want it to. So every time you look at your phone you are reminded of what you need to do and eventually do it when your ready. I put all of my assignments on my iPhone to do list now and it has helped my remember my work that I need to get done. It is one of the most useful apps on my phone.

Life Without Technology

I researched the question "How would your life change if all your technological devices were taken away for a week?" I do not think I would do well if I could not use technology for a week. I would fall behind in my classes because I would not be able to use my computer to complete my assignments. Other than falling behind in my school work I would also become incredibly bored not being able to watch television or Netflix and also not being able to get on social media such as Twitter. An upcoming technology that I found that could be coming to us in the near future is text ahead seating in restaurants. Some restaurants are trying text ahead seating for their customers. If it catches on I think it will be a useful and convenient new trend.

3D Printers

The first article I read was from Livescience and it talked about how one day 3D printers could help create live organs which would help medical science. The second article I read was by www.fool.com and it was taking about what companies would partner up with 3D printing and the company they focused on was Nike. I think companies should use 3D printers because it could benefit them and if medical science can be improved because of this then it should definitely be used. I do not think I would ever use a 3D printer or can even think of a reason I would use one but if they can help medical science or grow a company then we should peruse this technology.

Wearable technology is an interesting idea but I do not think it will catch on. The apple watch might get some use from people but i think overall people would rather just check their phones rather than their watch. The google glass however does not have much of a chance to catch on in my opinion. I personally would not want an Apple watch or a google glass. Some companies might be able to use wearable technology  in the workplace to benefit their companies but overall I do not think wearable technology will catch on.

Phone Use

I do not think I overuse my phone. I am able to put it down when I am engaged in a conversation with someone. I am able to pay attention to someone when I am talking to them and not get distracted by my phone. I am able to stay engaged with what is happening around me when I have my phone. I do not think i get distracted by my phone because I will only be on it if I get bored or if there is something important that I need to see on my phone. Other people around me are on there phones a lot but I do not think it is a big problem and I do not think there phone use is excessive. The article discusses a lot of the problems people have staying engaged with a conversation because of their phone. I do not think phones are as big of a problem as the article suggests. Some people may have problems with getting distracted with their phones but for the most part i do not think it is a serious problem.

There are pros and cons of having social media in the work place. Pros include employees being happier because they feel their voices are being heard and it encourages them. The cons of having social media in the workplace include increased cyber security because hackers can commit fraud. I used DuckDuckGo as my search engine to find more about the impact of social media in the workplace. The article talked about the different forms of social media and how they can be used to benefit a company in the workplace. I think social media in the workplace is a positive thing because it can keep a company modern and reach a new demographic.
